Dear Park Volunteers… we hope you’re enjoying your summer – the hot days and the cool, balmy evenings…
We’re going back to the Anza Garden which is located at the northeast corner of Crystal Springs Picnic Area. So head into the Crystal Springs area, turn left into the parking lot, and head toward the freeway.
We’ll be pulling weeds, invasive grasses and other invasive plants, and then spreading mulch. This mulch helps to slow the return of weeds and it adds nutrients to the soil and reduces evaporation during the warmer months of summer. There’s also a large tree branch that needs to be removed.
We strongly recommend that you wear closed-toed shoes, long (lightweight) pants, a hat, and sunscreen. We’ll supply hand tools, trash bags for weeds, work gloves, water, and cups. If you have your own work gloves and a water container, we suggest you bring them.
And, If you’ve not already completed and submitted one of our
Volunteer Agreement forms, you’ll need to do so before you’re allowed to work in the park per LA Rec and Parks. Please complete the form, scan it, and email it back to
rossarnold1213@gmail.com, or bring the completed form to your first project. If you’ve completed this form already, you will only need to sign in when you arrive at the worksite.
We look forward to seeing you at the event!
Ross Arnold, FoGP Volunteer Coordinator
