The Friends of Griffith Park will be holding its next conservation event Saturday, June 7th.
We’re meeting at the Merry-go-round Parking Lot entrance and walking up to the catch basins at the bottom of Fern Canyon. We’ll be removing invasive plants that tend to overwhelm disturbed areas (and these catch basins are definitely disturbed).
As usual, we strongly recommend wearing close-toed shoes or hiking boots, long pants, sunscreen, and a hat. We supply the hand tools, plastic bags, work gloves, and water, but if you have your own pair of gloves, we encourage you to bring them. Same with water containers – bring them if you have them.
If you have not completed one of our
Volunteer Agreement forms, you will need to complete one before you volunteer in the Park. Please complete the form, scan it, and email back to
rossarnold1213@gmail.com. If you’ve already completed / submitted a form in the past, just sign-in when you arrive at the meeting spot.
Also, If you’re interested in organizing a project in the Park for your organization, club, company, or group, please reach out at
Volunteer page on our website – someone will contact you. If you’re available during the week and would like to pitch in, we have a small group going out on Wednesdays to remove invasive plants in the Park. This group works from 8:00 to 10:00 AM.
We look forward to seeing you on Saturday, June 7th!
(one of our previous invasive removals carted out a large amount of the castor bean)
