I live in Long Beach. We transformed our backyard into a desert botanical garden in 2015. It has grown into a micro forest of sorts I guess. We have bees, butterflies, lady bugs, praying mantis, lizards, squirrels, possums and raccoons. My mother in law calls it our personal park. We love it. We will have to get up to Griffith and check this place out. We cultivate succulent plants and have drought tolerant trees such as mesquite and Palo verde.
